WOOLIES RD 2 State Titles – Presented by Red Herring Surf. Run and done at Nth Clifton Beach today.
After yesterday’s call to go on hold Surfing Tasmania was surprised this morning to be greeted by a more positive swell and sunshine with out any wind. As the event got underway at Nth Clifton the swell pumped strongly with constant 1 to 1.5 meter waves on a great bank with left and right options. Most heats averaged 30 scored rides; about 7 per surfer!! . Surfing Tasmania’s newest Head Judge Stella Gibson had to work hard with the judges panel to keep up at times with a competitor riding left and another on the rights. All up a magic day for our junior surfers at one of Tasmania’s traditional event locations with good banks on offer. Results from this event will be used to make the final SAUS/STAS coaching Development Squad selections in preparation for next weekends visit by former national coach Martin Dunn. The squad will be announced later this week.
