HOBART/TASMANIA (Thurday, 27th February/2025): Following the cancellation of the Bruny Island Classic, Surfing Tasmania has been working hard to restructure the competition calendar to ensure our junior surfers still have a full three-round State Title series.
We are excited to confirm the following events:
State Junior Rounds
• Southern Beaches Junior – Presented by Park Beach Board Riders
Sunday, May 4th or Sunday, May 11th – Park Beach(Juniors)
• 20th Southern Challenge in Memory of Paul Johannesen – Presented by South Arm Board Riders
Saturday, May 24th – Sunday, May 25th (Opens & Juniors)
• East Coast Classic – Presented by North East Board Riders
Saturday, June 7th – Monday, June 9th (All Divisions)
Additional Opportunity:
• 50th West Coast Classic – Presented by Surfing Tasmania
Friday, April 18th – Monday, April 21st
(Open Event & 6500 Junior-Rated National Event)
We encourage all surfers to take advantage of this premier event, which provides a rare opportunity to compete at a higher level. The WCC was structured outside the state junior rounds this year to serve as a showcase event for Surfing Tasmania’s 50th anniversary. This not only strengthens the competition pathway for our surfers but also generates financial returns to support events that may otherwise not be viable.
Entries are now OPEN for all events.
As a volunteer-run organisation, early entries are crucial in helping us plan and continue to deliver high-quality events. By registering early, you support our ability to organise logistics, secure resources, and ensure a great experience for all competitors.
Surfing Tasmania remains committed to fostering junior development and creating valuable opportunities for our surfers to grow, compete, and excel. We welcome feedback from the community and will review the success of the WCC after the event to continue improving our offerings.
