CLIFTON BEACH/TASMANIA (Wednesday 26th October/2022): Tasmanian’s next generation of surf stars are set to descend on Clifton Beach this Sunday, 30th of October for the 2022 instalment of the Woolworths Surfer Groms Comps.
2ft clean waves are expected at Clifton come Sunday morning, making for perfect conditions for young competitors to show off their skills and have some fun in the process. The event has been rescheduled due to high winds from an unfavourable direction forecast for the original date of Saturday, 29th October.
Always a fun family friendly day, the Woolworths Surfer Groms Comps are a great way for any grom to dip their toes into competition surfing through a fun and safe environment whilst also being a stepping stone for aspiring young pro surfers who want to go to the next level.
Woolworths will bring a fresh approach to summer 2022 as the national series consisting of ten events hits the shores of every State and once again delivers a fun and friendly introduction to surf competition.
The Woolworths Surfer Groms Comps cater for the mini, mirco groms (U/8) to the big kids alike (U/14, U/16 in Tasmania) of any level, and is all about providing a fun, but competitive environment.
As an added bonus, the respective winners of the Under 14 boys’ and girls’ divisions from each event will receive an invite to attend an all-expenses-paid, three-day Woolworths Surfer Groms Comps National Final Surf Camp, (2-day coaching clinic, 1 day of competition and heat analysis coaching) at the Hyundai Surfing Australia High-Performance Centre (HPC).
