CLIFTON BEACH/TASMANIA (Wednesday, February 15th/2023): Tasmania’s own Coastrider Surf Academy has been named a top three finalist in Surfing Australia’s Surf school of The Year Award category with the winner announced at the Australian Surfing Awards incorporating the Hall of fame tomorrow night, Thursday 16th February at Hotel QT on the Gold Coast.

Coastrider Surf Academy is  based at Clifton Beach but operates surfing lessons all across the state. Their busiest summer season is October through April. Jono Mereszka (Coastrider owner) has been been running the Woolworths SurfGroms program since its inception 13 years ago and was also involved in the initial planning for the program, its content and structure – something he is very passionate about it.

“We have many repeat SurfGroms, with word of mouth about our awesome programs being the number one promotional tool.  Our coaches are amazing and always deliver a fun and vibrant surf session, focusing on development on every wave,” said Mereszka.

The water is always a touch cool in Tasmania but the summer months of December through to about March are very nice. Kids still always need a full steamer wetsuit, luckily Coastrider supply quality wetsuits from the leading surf brands.

“As one of the Country’s leading Woolworths SurfGrom suppliers we are super stoked to be offering the new generation of groms a positive and fun start to their surfing lifestyle or career. Many of our former surfgroms go onto competing at National titles, and also making names for themselves at Shipsterns bluff on the big wave seen,” Mereszka finished with.
