The weekend August 8/9 is the second weekend of the waiting period of the 2020 popular event.

The Phantom Coast Classic and Teams Challenge has two sections; the individual division and teams section. It is designed as a season opening event and preparation for the upcoming season. It is a singles and team event to warm up for the December Australian Boardrider Battle Tasmanian Qualifying Event on Saturday October 3rd.. BRC honour and pride is at stake ! It is scheduled for August/September with a four 8 week waiting period from AUGUST 01/02, to SEPT.26/27th to give NWBR the best possible waves at ‘The River’ or other locations om the nw coast. The ‘call’ will be made each Thursday night on social media. The Phantom Coast Challenge is part of a strategy from Surfing Tasmania to promote annual competition events on the NW Coast. It is a non championship event. ENTRIES CLOSE FRIDAY NOON each week..
The Phantom Coast Classic and Teams Challenge is designed for BRCs and combined teams of 5 surfers ( 2 open, 1 woman, 1U18 and 1 O35). Clubs are encouraged to build their own teams from their membership. Teams can include members of other clubs who have not been selected. The event is limited to 5 teams. The individual section/division will be run in line with the Southern Challenge Eddie Aikau format. Everyone will surf two 25 minute heats. It will run as a single day event. It is a non championship event. Team entry is $175 ($35 p/p). Prizes will be awarded for U18 M/F, Open M/F, O/35, Teams all M/F Divisions. Event Directors are Jy Johannesen and Matt Gaby.
The waiting period is 4 weeks with the call made each Thursday night and publicised on social media. AUGUST 01/02, to SEPT. 26/27th.
