MARRAWAH/TASMANIA (Thursday September 29th): The 2022 Goodstone Group Phantom Coast Classic has been called on as good quality waves are forecast for the Marrawah region on Tasmania’s North West Coast this weekend, the first and second of October.
Surfers from across the state are expected to take advantage of this promising forecast after a long waiting period from August 1st/2nd finally looks like producing the best possible opportunity to surf quality waves on the north west coast.
Despite the west coast’s tendency to bring howling wind with swell, the weekend looks like producing clean conditions at Marrawah with a smaller good quality swell lining up well for the opening round of the Tasmanian State Championship Series this season.
The Phantom Coast Challenge is part of a strategy from Surfing Tasmania to promote annual competition events on the North West Coast. ENTRIES CLOSE TONIGHT MIDNIGHT.
The Phantom Coast Classic and Teams Challenge has two sections; the individual division and teams section. It is designed as a season opening event and preparation for the upcoming season. It is a singles and team event to warm up for the Hyundai Australian Boardriders Battle Tasmanian Qualifying Event on Saturday October 3rd.
The Phantom Coast Classic and Teams Challenge is designed for clubs and combines teams of five surfers ( two Opens, one woman, one Under 18 and one Over 35). Clubs are encouraged to build their own teams from their membership. Teams can include members of other clubs who have not been selected.
