BICHENO/TASMANIA(October 15th/2024): Surfing Tasmania is excited to announce former Women’s World Number Two Serena Brooke as our keynote speaker at the Women in Waves Day on Saturday, November 30, 2024, in Bicheno!
Serena spent fourteen years on the professional surfing tour, achieving significant success, including reaching the World Number One Ranking in 2001. With a remarkable career that includes two #2 World Championship Tour rankings, a Billabong Pro Australia title, and countless contributions to the evolution of women’s surfing, Serena has paved the way for future generations of female surfers. She now brings her passion for the sport, her commitment to empowering women, and her experience as a coach, mentor, and charity founder to inspire the next wave of women in ocean sports.
President of Surfing Tasmania, Holly Brown, welcomed Serena Brooke to the event, stating: “Women in Waves has become an iconic event in Surfing Tasmania’s calendar, bringing women and girls from across the State together to experience surfing in a safe and fun environment. We are thrilled to have Serena Brooke, a world surfing icon, join us this year to inspire and empower our participants.”
Holly further added: “The 2025 program builds on the success of our previous event at Turners Beach, and this time we’re excited to bring it to Bicheno and the East Coast surfing community. With ocean literacy sessions, surf coaching, healthy food, and the opportunity to hear from Serena, this event is about more than just surfing – it’s about creating connections, fostering growth, and encouraging a healthy, active lifestyle for women and girls across Tasmania.”
