HOBART/TASMANIA( February 29th/2024): Clifton Beach based Coastrider Surf Academy has taken out the country’s biggest surf school award, winning the Australian Surf School of The Year Award at last night’s Australian Surfing Awards incorporating The Hall of Fame in Bondi.
After humble beginnings in 2009, the Surf School has gone from strength to strength in fifteen years with non prouder than founder and current owner Jono Mereszka.
Focused on customer service and quality coaching, Mereszka said attending the award ceremony as a finalist was a thrill, but to take out the award was true reward for all the Coastrider Team’s hard work.
“We have set very high standards of service delivery and stoke over the past 15 years of operation, so it is awesome to win this award. The whole team of coaches now and over the years have been so amazing and dedicated to being the best surf school, not only in Tasmania, but Australia,” said Mereszka.
Always hotly contested, the Award Category featured finalists from the mainland like Cronulla Surfing Academy and ‘Lets Go Surfing’ whom run across New South Wales.
“With over one hundred surf schools in the Surfing Australia network, this really is an honour. Considering the barriers of a short season in Tasmania and the ever changing weather we face, we have built a exceptional business. I would also like to thank Surfing Tasmania and Surfing Australia for the ongoing support and amazing programs they offer,” he finished with.
